Design Surgery Terms & Conditions

1.0 DEFINITIONS

The following definitions shall apply to these Design Surgery terms & conditions.

1.1 Paper Room Creative refers to the interior design business trading under that name, whose business address is 12 Cobbett Road, Southampton, SO181HH.

1.2 The designer refers to Sarah Partington, owner of Paper Room Creative.

1.3 The client refers to the individual who has accepted the terms and conditions during the booking process.

2.0 DESIGN SURGERY SERVICE

2.1 This service is a remote consultation via Zoom of up to 70 minutes where interior design guidance and advice is provided and tailored to the specific needs of each client. The designer also provides a written follow-up review to summarise the key discussion points of the session, as well images, where appropriate, to demonstrate any design concepts discussed.

3.0 EXAMPLES OF WHAT WE CAN HELP WITH

3.1 Advice on choosing the right flooring for your space.

3.2 Guidance on layout and furniture placement if you provide a floor plan and approximate dimensions.

3.3 Advice on creating a beautiful lighting scheme.

3.4 Help with selecting kitchen style, colour, and worktop.

3.5 Ideas on how to make the best use of a space.

3.6 Guidance on how to choose the right furniture for a room.

3.7 Colour scheme ideas for a particular room, short-listing paint colours.

3.8 Guidance on the best window treatment for a room.

3.9 Guidance on how to finish and style your space.

3.10 Help to identify why a room isn’t working for you.

3.11 Help with the questions your builders are throwing at you.

3.12 Assisting couples who have opposing ideas and helping them come to a decision.

3.13 Reviewing your own design ideas and decisions to provide the reassurance (or redirection) you need.

4.0 WHAT WE CANNOT HELP WITH

We always strive to be as helpful as possible, but within your 70-minute remote Zoom call, we cannot:

4.1 Interior Design your home – This service is to provide guidance that will help you design your own home.

4.2 Source products or items on your behalf – But we can guide you on how to source your products.

4.3 Create technical drawings of proposed room layouts/furniture placement (see our Room Planner service for this).

4.4 Offer advice on structural, building, heating or electrical elements of your project – We are not qualified to do this!

4.5 Provide any advice relating to commercial interior design – Also not qualified to do this!

4.6 Give advice on anything that is too hard to gauge online – Because sometimes you just need to see things in real life!

5.0 CLIENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES

5.1 To provide the designer with the requested information at least 24 hours prior to the consultation. If the client fails to respond and this causes the consultation to be rearranged, the designer reserves the right to charge a rescheduling fee.

6.0 FEES

6.1 A fee of £170 is charged at the point of booking and is not subject to VAT.

6.2 The designer reserves the right to charge a rescheduling fee of £40 if the consultation has to be rescheduled as a direct result of the client not providing the requested information in advance of the consultation (see 5.1).

7.0 RESCHEDULING / CANCELLATION

7.1 The client is entitled to reschedule or cancel their consultation providing they give at least 48 hours’ notice. They should email the designer to request this. 

7.2 In the event of rescheduling, the client can select their preferred alternative date, subject to availability. 

7.2 In the event of a cancellation, the client will receive a full refund, provided they give at least 48 hours’ notice of their consultation. The client should contact the designer via email or phone call to request this, and the refund will be processed.

7.3 Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase and can take up to 14 days.

7.4 The client is not entitled to any refund if they provide less than 48 hours’ notice; any refund offered would be entirely at the designer’s discretion.

7.5 The designer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel a consultation at any time due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., illness, emergency). In such cases, the client will be offered either an alternative consultation date or a full refund.

8.0 LIABILITY

Paper Room Creative and/or the designer cannot accept liability for any of the following;

8.1 Information or advice that becomes irrelevant or inaccurate when applied outside of the UK. Our designer is qualified and experienced within the UK only and this service is intended for UK residents.

8.2 Losses the client may incur as a result of purchasing, ordering or returning goods from shops, retailers or suppliers that the designer may have recommended, the client is responsible for their own purchasing choices.

8.3 Inaccurate images, descriptions or dimensions on any third-party website the designer may have referenced.

8.4 Failure to fulfil, or delayed fulfilment of this service that is caused by events beyond their reasonable control.

9.0 COPYRIGHT & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

9.1 Paper Room Creative shall retain the intellectual property of any documents produced by Paper Room Creative.
